What's in my case...
This is a listing of the current camera bodies that I am using to capture the images that you see on my site. Depending on the assignment, I will typically have two bodies along with the lens' that should take care of the job. My first body was a Canon T3i and over the years, I have identified reasons to upgrade my gear. If you are considering purchasing your first DSLR or looking at upgrading your existing body, hopefully this can be of some help.
R5
This has become my all time favorite body. It truly is an all around camera capable of the high frame rates, exceptional eye tracking and higher megapixel files when ever needed. the Canon EOS R5 Mirrorless Digital Camera delivers incredible photographic and cinematic video. Canon's newly designed 45 Megapixel full-frame sensor is the key to exceptional image quality. The R5 prominently features a continuous shooting capability of up to 20 frames-per-second, which, alongside the newly enhanced Dual Pixel CMOS AF II, assures you will capture fast-moving subjects with enhanced focus. Appreciate the impressive 1,053 Automatic AF zones within the camera while photographing people or animals with effortless ease when using the Eye, Face, and Head Detection AF. The first of the EOS series to present 5-axis in-body image stabilization to help eliminate camera shake while using both stabilized and non-stabilized image lenses. When it comes time to sharing your content, easily connect with the included 5GHz and 2.4GHz Wi-Fi® or Bluetooth.
EOSR
The Canon EOS R features a high-resolution 30.3MP full-frame CMOS sensor along with a DIGIC 8 image processor. The combination of these technologies offers a wide sensitivity range up to a native ISO 40000, fast continuous shooting to 8 fps, and UHD 4K30 video recording. In addition to imaging, the sensor also facilitates an advanced Dual Pixel CMOS AF system, which uses 5655 selectable points for quickly and accurately acquiring focus.
Canon 1DX MII
My primary goto camera for sports. It isn't the newest model since the release of the 1DX MII, however for at a reasonable price adjustment, this is a very reputable and industry standard for sports photography.
Canon 5D Mark IV
I use this heavy hitter for all things outside of sports when I am needing a faster frames per second. The EOS 5D Mark IV camera boasts a full-frame, high-speed CMOS sensor that’s ideal for a broad range of applications with its remarkable high-resolution abilities. It records 30.4 effective Megapixels at normal ISOs of up to 32000. It also captures incredible still and 4K video clips suitable for significant post-processing, retouching and cropping.
Canon 1D Mark IV
The second, well tied for second, rig in my bag for sports. It is slightly older technology, but the 10 frames per second is on point. The unique sensor of this camera, is not quite Full Frame and not exactly typical APS-C crop of 1.6x. It actually is 1.3x crop factor, so you'll get the reach of a crop, but with slightly more of a sensor to capture. The build is solid professional Canon manufacturing. This camera is no longer manufactured, but they are still readily available at a fraction of it's original cost.
7D Mark II
This is a great camera for sports. The FPS is a lighting fast 8 frames per second and the advanced focus system work perfectly to capture the action. Also with it being a APS-C, the 1.6x crop factor helps with the reach.
